CHAPTER II
SEPTEMBER 07, 1898
AN IMAGINEERED SUDAN CAMPAIGN
WE'VE GOT TO REPORT BACK
RETREAT FROM THE SEMAR RIVER SCOUT
For Chapter I see:
"We've got to report back with our findings. One more day's ride and we should find Colonel Sinclair's Advance Guard column," said Grandmaison.
"Yes, the Colonel has got to know about the five fords across the Semar. Plus, Ragnar Khan's Army was nowhere in sight and his mountain stronghold looked none too strong either with the wall collapse west of the gate," offered Leighton
"Bellinger then remarked, "Lucky for us those brave chaps who charged me the day before yesterday did not follow us. We'll get back easily, I'm think'n."
A moment later....
The officers and two of Skinner's Horse with ready carbines turned to face the unexpected threat. Bellinger raised his automatic pistol and began firing to slow the foe.
Grandmaison shouted, "No! Disengage. We've got to get our report back to the column. Fighting these warriors will jeopardize our mission."
